Falling tree kills Eden Prairie woman

An Eden Prairie woman died Friday after being pinned under a 90-year-old basswood tree.

The 56-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was found on a walking trail near Mitchell Lake in the Minneapolis suburb.

Eden Prairie authorities say she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tree was more than 2 feet in diameter and showed no visible signs of disease. Winds were gusting at more than 20 miles per hour at the time.
