Tom Weber's book pick this week is "The Last Ferryman" by Gregory D. Randle. The novel is set in a small Illinois town in 1939 when the only way to cross the Wabash River was by ferry.
"The book reminds me of my time attending college in southern Illinois; a connection to the geography of where this story happens," wrote Tom Weber. "But I am also intrigued by how ferries have largely disappeared from our lives; using the ferry to get to Madeleine Island in Wisconsin is a fun trip because of the novelty. In a past life, it would have been more than routine."
