MNsure's board of directors has decided to give interim CEO Scott Leitz the job permanently.
Credited with improving the operation of the online health insurance marketplace, Leitz will lead the organization through a critical time. He and MNsure leaders must decide whether MNsure's technical infrastructure can be salvaged or scrapped.
Leitz became interim CEO in December when MNsure's executive director April Todd-Malmlov resigned as the website's software failures frustrated and angered consumers. An independent consultant found MNsure leaders were making decisions at that point in "crisis mode" and management was "non-existent."
Since Leitz took over, the consumer website has improved but a separate interface for county employees continues to frustrate workers who process applications for government-sponsored coverage such as Medical Assistance.
