Minnesota's second district congressional race is getting some unexpected national attention after comedian Bill Maher announced that he would work to defeat Republican Rep. John Kline, who's up for re-election in November.
Maher made the announcement on his HBO program earlier this month, saying his viewers picked Kline over many other Republicans in what he called the "Flip a District" contest.
MPR News Reporter Brett Neely talked with Maher earlier this week. On The Daily Circuit, we play a clip from their interview. For the full story, listen to Neely's story Friday on Morning Edition.
