Major League Soccer will hear expansion plans from would-be hosts of new MLS teams Thursday.

Minnesota Vikings officials will join groups from Sacramento and Las Vegas in giving presentations at the league's headquarters in New York tomorrow. It's the latest development in apparently rival efforts to bring top-level soccer to Minnesota.

The state's existing pro soccer franchise, Minnesota United, did not respond to inquiries about whether it would be making a bid.

Thursday's meeting comes just weeks after a group, including the United's ownership, confirmed it was exploring the potential for a new professional soccer stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

MLS officials will meet and talk more about expansion on Dec. 6.
