The Minnesota Orchestra released details of its 2015-16 season Friday, including plans for live concert recordings and an eight-day Beethoven marathon.

The orchestra will perform all nine of Beethoven's symphonies plus all five Beethoven piano concertos over just eight days.

A live recording of "Kullervo" and "Finlandia" by Sibelius will feature a Finnish male choir.

Associate Principal Flute Greg Milliren, who served on the artistic advisory committee that put together the season, likens the 22 weeks of subscription concerts to a musical kaleidoscope.

"Every concert is designed to present both great works that are familiar alongside with things that you weren't so aware of, but are equally wonderful," Milliren said.

New this season will be a series of chamber concerts in the Orchestra Hall atrium.

The orchestra also is experimenting with starting some Saturday evening concerts at 6 p.m.

Travel also is in store for the season. The orchestra will have a weeklong Common Chords residency in Detroit Lakes in September. In March 2016, it will return to Carnegie Hall for the first time in five years.
