Authorities have sealed off a site at North Mississippi Regional Park in Brooklyn Center, where a body was found in the river.
Searchers who were out looking for 10-year-old Barway Collins called 911 at 1 p.m. Saturday, saying that there appeared to be a body several yards from shore, said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek at a brief press conference late Saturday afternoon.
The sheriff's department arrived at the park at 53rd and Lyndale and found a body about 20 feet from shore. Stanek said that the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will identify the body and release the information.
Law enforcement agencies have provided few other details, but the park has been the focus of several searches for Barway Collins, a Crystal fourth-grader who's been missing for more than three weeks.
