Today's Morning Edition music is from 50 years ago Thursday when "Ticket to Ride" by the Beatles was the No. 1 song on the U.S. Billboard pop chart.
It was the eighth Beatles song to make it to No. 1 in just over a year.
John Lennon is credited as the primary author of the tune with some help from Paul McCartney.
"Ticket to Ride" is one of the few Beatles songs where McCartney plays lead guitar instead of George Harrison. It was also the soundtrack for the scene in the movie "Help!" where the Beatles are seen skiing.
