Campuses across the University of Wisconsin system are grappling with budget shortfalls after the state's legislature approved $125 million in cuts to system's budget earlier this year.

In addition to the financial challenges facing the system — the legislature left tenure protections uncertain for UW system professors, a change that critics warn will make it difficult to attract and retain top talent.
