A group that advises the Minneapolis Police Department is holding a final vote tonight on recommendations for how body cameras should be used by the department.
Those recommendations come after months of public outreach and research into how other cities have handled their programs.
Police departments nationwide are increasing their use of body cameras. Many hope it'll shed light on complaints about racial bias and excessive force.
But the cameras are still relatively new, and a lot of questions remain about how exactly they should be used.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Bill McGeveran, a professor of law at the University of Minnesota who has been watching the debate around privacy of the video footage and the cameras' use.
