More than two weeks after one of its employees died while working on the U.S. Bank Stadium project in Minneapolis, a North St. Paul-based roofing company will return to work at the site Friday.
Berwald Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. employee Jeramie Gruber, 35, of Northfield, died Aug. 26 after he slid down the stadium roof, broke through a guardrail and fell onto an elevated platform.
A Berwald spokesperson said the stadium's roofing conditions were reviewed by the Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration and stadium contractor Mortenson Construction. The company has received word that the review is complete and it may return to the site.
Employees of the company will wear a decal on the back of their hard hats in memory of Gruber.
