Two people are dead and another wounded after a series of shootings in the Twin Cities on Wednesday night.

A vigil to mark the anniversary of a previous death in St. Paul was interrupted by gunfire about 6 p.m. Wednesday. St. Paul police say they responded to a shots fired call on the East Side and found a shooting victim being treated by paramedics. He was pronounced dead shortly after. A crowd had gathered at the scene of the shooting, the site of a woman's slaying in 2012.

St. Paul police later identified the victim as Synika George James, 37, of St. Paul.

Minneapolis police say a fight at about the same time on Emerson Avenue North ended in gunfire and another man dead.

And police in Eagan reported a man was shot in the leg in the parking lot of the Days Inn near Interstate 35E and Cedar Avenue, also about 6 p.m. That victim's wound is not thought to be life-threatening.

No arrests were reported in any of the shootings.
