MNsure's board of directors Wednesday unanimously accepted Twin Cities business executive Mark Nyquist as the single finalist to become the exchange's next chief executive.
Nyquist has worked for several area companies, including UnitedHealth Group and General Mills. He's in line to replace MNsure Scott Leitz as CEO, although MNsure Board Chair Peter Benner says there's no guarantee he'll get the job.
"Two of the seven board members have talked to him. The other five have not. That will be taking place," Benner said. "More eyes will come into this process and while I am clearly hopeful that this whole thing can come together, I am not prejudging the outcome."
Finding a new permanent CEO has taken longer than MNsure officials had planned. Benner said 42 people applied for the job and two were headed toward being finalists, but one dropped out.
