Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will visit with President Obama on Wednesday at the White House. On Tuesday, Sanders was in Minnesota for two rallies that attracted thousands of people.
Of course, his rival in the Democratic race, Hillary Clinton, has also revved up her own campaign in Minnesota ahead of the state's March 1 caucuses.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Scott Hogan, the lead organizer for the Clinton campaign in Minnesota.
"We've built a statewide structure," Hogan said. "It's very important to us to focus on every Minnesotan, not just in the major populated areas."
Hogan says some of the Minnesota effort also involves sending supporters to help in Iowa. The caucuses there Monday will be the first official test of the three major candidates vying for the Democratic nomination.
Clinton is due back in Minnesota next month, but at least for now she isn't scheduled to hold a big rally. Clinton has secured endorsements from Gov. Mark Dayton, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Al Franken.
