The Minnesota Vikings will open the doors to football for the first time at U.S. Bank Stadium on Aug. 28.
On that day, the Vikings will play the San Diego Chargers in a preseason game expected to be a Fox network national telecast. The NFL's preseason schedule posted Thursday shows a second game at the new Minneapolis stadium on Sept. 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.
The first two Vikings preseason games take place on the road at Cincinnati and Seattle before the team comes home to play San Diego at the $1.1 billion stadium funded partly by $498 million in taxpayer money.
