Portions of two major interstates are set to close from Friday night through early Monday morning in the metro.

Interstate 35W will shut down at County Road E2 on the border of New Brighton and Arden Hills beginning at 10 p.m. Friday so that crews can remove the bridge there, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closure lasts through 5 a.m. Monday.
During the demolition, motorists will be detoured in a single lane up and down the ramps at I-35W and County Road E2. No traffic will be allowed to turn onto County Road E2 and traffic on that road will not be allowed to enter I-35W.
A MnDOT spokesperson said the ramp from eastbound Interstate 694 to southbound I-35W will also close at that time.
A new wider, smoother County Road E2 bridge is expected to be built by mid-August.
I-35W in both directions from County Road E2 to Interstate 694 will be restricted to a single lane in both directions during the closure, as crews paint the County Road F bridge.
Also, the ramp from eastbound I-694 to southbound I-35W will be closed this weekend.
Meanwhile, I-94 is closing between Minnesota Highway 280 and Snelling Avenue in St. Paul beginning at 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
Crews will be demolishing the Prior Avenue bridge deck, which is being rebuilt this summer.
Motorists will be detoured to Highway 280, Minnesota Highway 36 and Interstate 35E.

Some hassles will last beyond the weekend.
Highway 280 between Broadway and I-35W is closing in both directions 6 a.m.Monday through mid-June. This includes access to I-35W and Minnesota Highway 36, as well as the road to County Road B2 in Roseville.
