According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics at the U.S. Department of Labor, 13.2 percent of people with disabilities were unemployed, compared to 8.3 percent of people without disabilities.
MPR News reporter Marianne Combs spoke with Joan Willshire, of the Minnesota State Council on Disability, about the disproportionately higher unemployment rate for people with disabilities in Minnesota. She was also joined by Eileen Vasquez, a visually impaired entrepreneur who was a finalist of the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired New Venture Business Competition.
