Police say one subject died at the scene. No officers were hurt.
The St. Paul Police Department will investigate the officer-involved shooting at the request of the BCA.
Other agencies involved with the operation included Alexandria police, the Douglas County Sheriff, and the West Central drug and violent crime task, a news release said.
The incident happened in downtown Alexandria at the 300 block of 4th Avenue East, about two blocks south of Lake Agnes.
Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesperson, had no comment beyond the BCA statement at this point and said the department will release more info as soon as it's available.
