Twin Cities Labor Day weekend road woes: not so terrible

This Labor Day weekend's road hassles report is more about stuff being open, including all lanes on Interstate 94 from St. Cloud to Collegeville. How about that.

The traditional last weekend of summer vacation should come with mostly open roads around the Twin Cities. There are no major interstate closures.

That doesn't mean orange cone season over.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, for instance, notes that there will be six weekend closures coming up on Interstate 694 in Fridley and New Brighton between Minnesota Highway 252 and Interstate 35W. But the department is holding off for the sake of Labor Day weekend and the Minnesota State Fair.

Heading to a Minnesota destination outside the Twin Cities for the weekend? Be prepared for some construction and congestion, including reduced lanes on Interstate 35 between Pine City and Hinckley. U.S. Highway 61 is reduced to a single lane south of Two Harbors.
