Minnesota braces for a major rainmaker Friday

Minnesota is heading toward a potentially soggy end to the week with widespread heavy rain expected Friday into early Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is currently expected from the Twin Cities metro area south toward the Minnesota–Iowa border, where 3 to 5 inches or more could fall.

Quiet Thursday ahead of soaking rains Friday

Clouds and fog should slowly decrease Thursday. Soaking rains develop for Friday. Some areas could see more than 4 inches of rain in southern Minnesota into early Saturday.

Next chance of showers late Wednesday with more rain Friday

Clouds will increase ahead of the next disturbance to touch off showers late Wednesday into Wednesday night. It’ll be a bit warmer through Thursday. More significant rain is possible Friday.

Overnight rains into the start of fall foliage

Looking forward to some more rain? Sure, some overnight showers Wednesday into Thursday and Thursday into Friday will take down some dried-out leaves, but we should get some aid for our drought. We have a generally cooler forecast but nothing is really leaping off the computer screen for an unbelievable chill — this is actually all pretty standard.

High pressure makes a nice Tuesday with more rain chances ahead

Cooler week ahead. Another wall of rain by Friday

Almost every Minnesotan got — or will get — rain on Monday. We have another slate of cool mornings and then another solid wave of rain by Friday. Some fall colors should begin to pop up in Northern Minnesota soon, as well.

A wet Monday followed by a pleasant Tuesday
