The latest figures show that the economy lost more than 20.5 million jobs in April, sending the unemployment rate to 14.7 percent. This is the worst unemployment we have seen since the Great Depression. Some businesses that closed to slow the spread of the coronavirus are beginning to reopen. But how quickly will consumers feel it’s safe to return and spend?
