A nationwide civic and advocacy organization just launched a local chapter in Minnesota late last year. The 100 Black Men of America is a mentoring organization that aims to educate and empower young Black men.
Dwayne Dixon, who serves as the senior advisor for the organization’s Minneapolis/St. Paul chapter, joined host Angela Davis to talk about their mission.
“We’ve seen some of the events from last year that took place, we’ve seen some of the disparities, and some of that comes from a lack of role models,” Dixon told Davis. “If you’ve never seen a successful Black businessman, you might not be able to see a path from where you may be to what that looks like.”
There are currently 25 mentors working with 55 young men. You can find more information here.
