Gun rights and revolution

Gun sales surged in 2020. The online retailer Tactical Gear said the 60 percent increase was driven, in part, by fears that the Biden administration would tighten restrictions on firearms sales. Those same fears have proven to be an effective recruiting tool for far-right groups, including those that advocated for the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Friday, MPR News reporter Brandt Williams hosted a conversation about how the Second Amendment intersects with calls for revolution.

Guests:

  • Adam Winkler is a specialist in constitutional law and gun policy and a professor of law at the UCLA School of Law.

  • Rashawn Ray is a fellow at Brookings and a sociology professor at the University of Maryland, College Park.
