It travelled some 1,800 miles from Palm Springs, Calif. Now the wind turbine near Pioneer Ridge Middle School in Chaska, Minn., is offering affordable electricity to nearby homes, as well as learning opportunities to the area’s schoolchildren.
MPR chief meteorologist and Climate Cast host Paul Huttner met Matt Podhradsky and Amy Feek to learn more. Podhradsky is Chaska’s city manager and a chair for the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency that operates the turbine, and Feek is a fourth-grade teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School.
