Minneapolis voters on Tuesday rejected a controversial plan that would have restructured the city’s police department by replacing it with a new Department of Public Safety. Fifty-six percent of voters cast their ballot against the measure.
The proposed amendment — question two on the ballot — was drafted following the murder of George Floyd by ex-cop Derek Chauvin in May 2020.
On Wednesday, the Rev. Jerry McAfee, one of the leaders of All of Mpls, a political action group that campaigned against the proposal, joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about the results.
