The Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot for all children ages 12 and up — and a third vaccine dose for children ages 5 to 11 who are immunocompromised. The announcement comes as students in Minnesota and across the country return to classrooms after the holiday break.

Host Cathy Wurzer got more insight into the decision from Dr. Madeleine Gagnon, vice chief of staff at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Gagnon is also on the board of the Minnesota chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Wurzer also spoke with Gov. Tim Walz after he and his family recovered from COVID-19, which they tested positive for just before Christmas.
