Prosecutors in the federal civil rights trial against three former Minneapolis police officers connected to George Floyd’s murder are expected to wrap up their case this week.

The defense will then have its turn in the trial, which is in its fourth week. The former officers – Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng – are charged with failing to provide medical care to George Floyd. Thao and Kueng are also charged with failing to intervene with former officer Derek Chauvin’s use of force. Chauvin pleaded guilty to violating Floyd’s rights.

MPR News reporter Jon Collins has been covering the trial and joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about what to expect next.
