There’s a common belief that rural areas – in Minnesota and across the country – are losing talented young people to the big city, leading to a “brain drain.” But that’s not necessarily true. There are groups working to ensure smart and passionate young people stay in their hometowns, where they can invest in their communities and bring about real change.
One organization is Lead for Minnesota, an off-shoot of Lead for America. Benya Kraus is the co-founder of Lead for America and the director of Lead for Minnesota, which she spearheads out of her hometown of Waseca. She joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about the efforts.
