Members of the Minneapolis City Council voted to shift around $1 million from the mayor’s proposed 2023 police department budget in order to fund other functions. Chief Brian O’Hara told the council that he was concerned that the shifts would hurt the department’s work on responding to state — and potentially federal — findings of racism that could lead to consent decrees.
