The Met Council said they have reached a deal with Hennepin County to fund the Southwest Corridor light rail project. The line, which will connect downtown Minneapolis with Eden Prairie, Minn., has been plagued by construction delays and cost overruns.

High temperatures are forecast to reach well into the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday and even triple digits in some spots. The heat index will be into the triple digits. This is an MPR News morning update, hosted by Cathy Wurzer. Music by Gary Meister.
