We live in a time where there is a podcast for every topic and every person, including kids.
And the market hasn’t gone untapped — about 29 percent of children ages 6-12 listen to podcasts. With an audience this big, and so eager to tune in, what do you talk to these kids about?
MPR News host Angela Davis talks with MPR News producer Matt Alvarez about a favorite show from 2023, a conversation from several months ago about podcasts for kids. Molly Bloom, the host of Brains On!, and Joy Dolo, the host of Forever Ago, share the creative process that goes into their award-winning shows for curious kids and curious adults. With the help of a special co-host, this show explores American Public Media’s Brains On! Universe and podcasts that are all about learning, exploring and getting involved.
Guests:
Krisha Dubey is an 11-year-old kid living in the Twin Cities and our special co-host for the hour. She has also co-hosted Brains On!
Molly Bloom is the co-creator and host of Brains On! and Smash Boom Best, and helps produce all the other APM Studios podcasts for kids and families.
Joy Dolo is the host of Forever Ago, a family-friendly history podcast. She is an actor, teacher and writer.
