The St. Louis County Board has declared a state of emergency as communities there continue to deal with severe flooding. More than 7 inches of rain fell across parts of northeast Minnesota earlier this week, causing downtown Cook to be under several feet of water. Elsewhere, washed-out roads have blocked access to cabins and a resort on Lake Vermillion. And flooding has stranded more than 100 campers at a YMCA camp outside Ely.
Plus, officials at Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth are monitoring the weather ahead of the race Saturday. While the race course was not affected by Tuesday’s flooding in Duluth, race organizers say they have plans if the weather turns severe.
