When skaters perform their triple lutzes and sit-spins in Turin, Italy this week, their performances will be judged by a whole new system of scoring. It was put into place after a judging scandal that involved vote trading in Salt Lake four years ago denied a Canadian pair of skaters the gold medal.
The new system is an attempt to make judging less subjective ... and therefore less vulnerable to bias. If a skater does a certain jump, she receives a specific number of points for that.
And yet, one of our guests on Midmorning says bias, whether on the ice or in the boardroom, is not always a negative.
