As debate continues in Washington over whether a United Arab Emirates company should manage terminals in some major U.S. seaports, Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman is proposing legislation he hopes would balance security and economic interests.
The proposal would require foreign companies to hire U.S. firms to operate any facilities that affect national security -- such as seaports. Democrats and Republicans have criticized Bush's handling of the ports deal.
Sen. Coleman, a Republican, told MPR's Tom Crann that Congress doesn't know enough about the deal.
