This Sunday, the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis is celebrating the 50th anniversary of integrated worship in the Twin Cities.
In 1957, the then-predominantely white congregation of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist, and the mostly-black congregation of Border Methodist joined together in a historic merger.
One member of the congregation who was there for that first morning service after the merger is Roberta Ellis. She spoke with MPR's Cathy Wurzer.
