Senate Democrats will meet to discuss two tax bills. One would raise income taxes for the wealthiest Minnesotans, and the other would raise income taxes across the board.
The money raised would fund K-12 education as well as early learning and higher education tuition relief.
The DFL caucus is split between the two tax plans, but they'll try to choose one bill to support before this weekend's full Senate vote. The governor has said he will veto whichever bill the Senate passes.
Over in the House, Democrats are thinking of raising income taxes on the top earners in the state to fund a property tax relief effort. The governor has said he'll veto that bill, too. There's a lot of tax talk at the Dapitol, and if the governor holds firm on his veto threats...what next?
