Poet Sean Lysaght keeps a keen eye on the natural world in the West of Ireland. His poetry is infused with the landscape and its creatures.
Lysaght is in St. Paul to receive the 11th O'Shaughnessy Award for poetry. The award is given by the center for Irish studies at the University of Saint Thomas. It recognizes contributions to the art by an Irish poet each year.
A three-line poem called "Birdwatching" is one example of his work. Like many of his poems, it incorporates observations about creatures and the rest of the natural world.
Lysaght reads "Birdwatching" and other poems during a conversation with All Things Considered host Tom Crann.
