(AP) The St. Paul Pioneer Press named circulation executive Guy L. Gilmore as its new publisher on Tuesday.
Gilmore, 52, has been the newspaper's vice president for circulation since 2005 and has worked as a circulation executive at the Baltimore Sun, the Portland Oregonian, and Nashville Tennessean & Banner. The Pioneer Press has recently bucked the industry trend of declining circulation by adding readers, bringing its daily circulation to 191,591, the newspaper said.
Publisher Par Ridder left the Pioneer Press in March to become Publisher and chief executive of the rival Star Tribune in Minneapolis.
"In recent years, the Pioneer Press has held its own and even outperformed its larger rival," Gilmore said in a prepared statement. "I am committed to continuing that trend."
