(AP) The Minnesota Department of Health says four children became ill after eating ground beef patties purchased at Sam's Club stores in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area that were contaminated with E. coli bacteria.
The Health Department said Friday that the children became ill between September 10th and September 20th after eating ground beef patties that were purchased frozen under the name "American Chef's Selection Angus Beef Patties."
Two of the children developed hemolytic uremic syndrome and were hospitalized. One of those children remains hospitalized, the other has been discharged.
The patties were sold at Sam's Club stores in Eagan, Maple Grove and White Bear Lake, but officials say the brand likely was sold at other Sam's Club locations, too.
