The St. Olaf Choir is ramping up their Christmas Festival tradition to high definition this year. For the first time the choir will be transmitting the sights and sounds of the show to movie theaters across the country. The satellite broadcast will show in more than 190 theaters.
John Ferguson, the director of organ and church music at St. Olaf College in Northfield, says the theaters bring the concert to those who normally wouldn't get to see it..
The Christmas Festival concert, called "Where Peace and Love and Hope Abide," will broadcast live on MPR classical music stations on Dec. 2 at 3:30 p.m. and in movie theaters across the country.
Ferguson spoke with Morning Edition's Cathy Wurzer about the concert and the broadcast.
