St. Paul Pioneer Press columnist Don Boxmeyer has died after a long illness. Boxmeyer was 67 years old. He wrote about many of St. Paul's most colorful characters during more than 35 years as a reporter and columnist with the newspaper.
When he retired as a regular columnist in 2002, Boxmeyer described his career with the Pioneer Press. He wrote, "the day I entered that front door, I think I knew I'd never leave this place."
One of the people Boxmeyer got to know during his career was former St. Paul Mayor George Latimer. MPR's Cathy Wurzer talked with Latimer.
