Rybak says no formal review of police, will assess tactics personally

On Friday, Rybak told reporters there would be a formal review of the security measures during the RNC. But spokesman Jeremy Hanson said the mayor misspoke. Hanson said Rybak himself will assess the police response.

"I don't think we know exactly what it will entail at this point, because it's just the mayor taking a look at how the police responded to the protests during the RNC last week," Hanson said. "It's something the mayor of course wants to look at and fully understand."

Hanson said he wasn't sure if the mayor's review would involve a written report.

Two Minneapolis City Council members have called for an investigation into how police handled the RNC protests.
