Saturday recount
Not even the weekend could stop some precincts and counties from proceeding with the recount of ballots in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race. On Saturday many places were still counting, including in Minnetonka, Minn.

The numbers show that 73 percent of Minnesota's precincts have finished their recount of ballots in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race.

As a result of yesterday's count, incumbent Republican Sen. Norm Coleman is leading his Democratic challenger Al Franken by 167 votes. That is based on how the results have changed in the precincts that have completed the recount. However, more than a quarter of precincts have yet to be counted.

As the pile of counted ballots has grown, so have the number of challenged ballots. So far, both campaigns have challenged a total of about 1,900 ballots, which vastly outnumbers the current margin between the two candidates.

The five member state canvassing board will begin reviewing the challenged ballots to determine voter intent on December 16th.

The recount appears to be on hiatus until Monday.
