The water remains high in Crookston as the Red Lake River heads for an expected crest.
City Administrator Aaron Parrish says the river has remained at 24.9 feet for the last day or so. He says the National Weather Service has forecast a crest of 26.5 feet for Friday.
Parrish says rains Wednesday night caused some water damage with backed-up basements, but there were no breaks in the dikes.
A voluntary evacuation remains in place for 500 homes in low-lying areas, but Parrish says people have been able to stay with friends or family, so a shelter at the University of Minnesota's Crookston campus has closed.
