It'll be 72 degrees inside the Metrodome tonight when the Minnesota Twins take to the field for their season opener against Seattle. But fans braved the cold this morning to get an early start on the season.
It was just 29 degrees on the plaza outside the Metrodome at dawn, but cars were lined up for blocks to get hot dogs, iced tea and a little of the excitement of opening day in downtown Minneapolis.
Chris White of Lakeland went through the makeshift drive-through to get a complementary Dome Dog from the Twins this morning on her way to work.
"I had to stop by. I've been a Twins fan since they first came here," said White.
The team has played in the Metrodome for 27 years, and for 21 years at Met Stadium before that.
This will be the Twins' last season at the dome, as work on a new ballpark is underway on the other side of downtown. The Twins start their opening four-day series against the Seattle Mariners tonight at 7 p.m.
