The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis is delaying by a week the opening of its world premiere production of a new Tony Kushner play.
The show,"The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures," was due to begin preview performances on May 9, and open on May 15.
owever the Guthrie says after discussions between Kushner, director Michael Greif, and Guthrie director Joe Dowling they decided they wanted the actors to have more time with the text on stage.
As a result, previews will now start May 15 and the show will open May 22. Ticketholders for the shows before the May 15 will be contacted and offered the chance to reschedule later in the run, which goes through June 28.
The new Kushner play is the centerpiece of a two-month long celebration of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's work.
