St. Paul residents can vote all day Thursday on whether to name a magnet school after President Barack Obama.
Webster Magnet is putting more emphasis on incorporating service in its instruction.
To reflect that new focus, school leaders are asking the community whether it should keep the Webster name, or call itself 'Barack and Michelle Obama Service Learning Elementary.'
All students, their families, and staff at the school will vote. And every St. Paul resident is also invited to cast a ballot before 7:00 Thursday night at the school -- which is near Holly and Dale.
The winning choice will be forwarded to the St. Paul School Board, which ultimately has final say on building names. Webster is believed to be the first school in the state to consider naming itself for the new president.
