The Minnesota Timberwolves today introduced the team's new president of basketball operations, David Kahn.
Kahn is a former sports columnist, broadcaster and sports lawyer. He was also the general manager for the Indiana Pacers for nine years.
In Minnesota, he'll be heading a team beleaguered by injuries, personnel problems and one of the worst records in the NBA.
"The good news is most of that stuff is behind. It's been fixed," said Kahn. "I am very excited to be here, in this place, in this state, with this organization, to help lead them to ideally championship-contending status, and God willing, a championship."

Kahn succeeds Kevin McHale as head of the Timberwolves' organization. McHale took over coaching duties midseason last year, when the Wolves fired coach Randy Whitman.
Kahn said he hasn't made a decision yet about McHale's future on the Wolves bench.
"It would be very easy for me to sit here today and say, you know what, I'm going to fire Kevin. That would show all of you out here that I have the authority, which I do, to do what I want to do," said Kahn. "I won't make decisions, though, that are in my best interest. I'm interested solely in making decisions that are in the best interests of the Minnesota Timberwolves."
Kahn says he plans to meet with McHale next week to discuss the coach's future with the team. The Wolves finished with a 24-58 record last year, tied for sixth-worst in the 30-team NBA.
