A 20-minute television special will air the last two Sundays in June, in an effort to provide colon cancer information to people who speak limited English in the Twin Cities.
The American Cancer Society and Minnesota's Emergency Community and Health Outreach produced the special, which will be broadcast in seven languages on Twin Cities Public Television's Minnesota Channel.
The show will provide basic information on colon cancer, dispel common misconceptions about the disease, and emphasize the role of early detection and the importance of regular screenings.
"We're able to connect with new immigrants and medically underserved populations by providing easy access health information in their native language," said Roshan Paudel, health disparities manager with the American Cancer Society.
