Two men died when a Blue Earth County Highway Department dump truck was struck by a train near the southern Minnesota town of Lake Crystal.
The State Patrol says 42-year-old Jack Baker of Le Center was driving the truck, which was spraying ditches on County Road 112, while 43-year-old Todd Ziegler of Mankato was a passenger. They were fatally injured when the truck was struck broadside by a chain of three Union Pacific Railroad engines around 4 p.m. Monday.
Baker was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center, while Ziegler was pronounced dead at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Ziegler had worked for the Highway Department for 16 years, while Baker had been there 10 years.
The crash remains under investigation.
